The Everest region also known as Khumbu area is one of the most prestigious place for mountain climbers. The Khumjung village, with Mt. Khumbila in the background is the historical cultural village of this area.
In Khumjung there is a Monastery that is believed to have Yeti Scalp. Tengboche Monastery, a major Buddhist Center in Everest Region is among the most renowned Monasteries in Nepal with a Residing Guru Rinpoche. Sherpa Settlement with deep cultural roots and magnificent mountains is often described as a travel close to Nirvana.
Khumbu Region is the home to stunning glaciers and highest mountains. The highest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest (8,848.86 metres) is also known as Sagarmatha and other mountains of epic proportions such as Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Thamserku Lhotse, Mt. Thamserku, and Mt. Amadablam and the river systems like Dudhkoshi, Lobuche River, which added beauty to Khumbu Region.
Khumbu is protected under the Sagarmatha National Park which is the famous habitat for endangered and rare species like snow leopards the red panda and musk deer Himalayan black deer Himalayan wolves, and the famous Yeti.
Everest region is now connected with Lukla airport and Phakding airport by flight and overland to Phakding by road.
