The Gokyo valley is an absolutely stunning and charming valley with breathtaking landscapes, distinctive geographical features and varied topography not found elsewhere. Gokyo valley trek is one of the popular trekking route and alternative of Everest Base Camp Trekking.
Gokyo Valley trek is one of the top treks of tourists who come to Nepal. The moderately steep climbs with breathtaking views delight trekkers and inspire them to visit the area for the first time. The trek is about fantastic adventures and spectacular views that hikers can enjoy as a reward for tackling challenging trails. Discovering the earliest villages and learning about different culture is a reward when you trek Gokyo Valley.
Trekkers can experience diverse cultures and languages of the diverse ethnic community of Khumbu. It will be interesting to learn about the background and history of the people from different castes, but mainly Sherpa residents of Khumbu.
Gokyo is among Nepal's most awe-ins settlements. The village is located on the eastern shores of Dudh Pokhari, overlooking the beautiful Gokyo Ri and sheer glaciers. Gokyo Valley, which spans 42.9 kilometers from Lukla. It passes through numerous villages, crosses suspension bridges, and glaciers. The trail passes through famous towns such as Lukla before it enters the sanctuary in the northeast region of Nepal.
The trekkers also need to traverse through the forest shaded by trees and climb the steep hills with stones and boulders until they arrive in Gokyo Valley. It is a long hike. Ngozumpa Glacier is one of the most difficult walk of the entire trek, as hikers must wear ropes and crampons to traverse the path.
There are many photography-friendly spots within the region, but the most stunning location can be found at Renjo La Pass, which appears amazing. It is a long and difficult climb to get to the pass, from where hikers are able to capture the most stunning images of the surrounding views, distinctive landscapes and wild. The view of Mount Everest and other peaks from Renjo La is superb.
Our representative from Linkage Nepal will come to pick you at the airport and drop off to your hotel. You will be staying in the capital city of Nepal for a night where you can see different temples and religious places.
We will start our journey by flying to Lukla. Lukla is a small town with a single runway airport which is listed in one of the most dangerous airport around the globe. After reaching Lukla, we will then trek to Phakding. We can see rhododendron (laliguras), magnolia trees and pine forests on our way to Phakding.
After breakfast, we will continue our journey to the pine forest with Dudh Koshi River. After walking for several hours we will enter Sagarmatha National Park where we can see endangered species of animals like Red Panda, Himalayan Bear, Thar, etc. Namche village is settled beautifully in the slope of hills.
We will continue to take a rest day between the treks to reenergize ourselves for the trek ahead of us. We will rest at Namche bazaar. We will explore the village and visit monastery around. We will interact with the local people and know about their culture and tradition.
After a rest day, we will continue our journey to Phortse Thanga. We will trek to Khumjung and descend to Dudh Koshi River. After walking for awhile we can see a large image of Buddha on the stone. After reaching Phortse Thanga we can see fabulous view of Thamserku.
The trek starts with easily accessible plain walk and then ascend hill. We will go through rough and dusty with steppe grassland for majority of the day. The fields here are barren in summer but, during the monsoon, it turns green in color with blooming wildflowers which looks amazing.
After breakfast, we will leave for Gokyo village. The path is long and tiring with a slow climb. The path is jagged and filled with rocks, so the hike gets a bit challenging. We will be able to see giant glaciers emerging above the village which will be an incredible view. After a short walk past the village, we’ll reach to Gokyo lake.
We will trek up to Gokyo Ri which is one of the highest peak in the Khumbu region. Climbing will be a bit challenging in places where path are rugged and filled with rocks. But the end we can see beautiful mountains from the top like Mt. Everest, Horse, Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam, etc. After enjoying the view we will trek back to Dole.
On our return journey, we will again trek back to Namche Bazaar. The trek with a steep descent to Phortse Thanga.
After breakfast, we will further go down and return to Lukla where we begin our trekking journey. This will be our final day in this region.
On our return journey, we will fly back to Kathmandu. In the flight we can see impressive green forests, mountain views, waterfalls and bird eye view of Kathmandu city. Our staff will pick you up at the airport and transfer to our hotel.
For the final day, you will depart from Kathmandu or extend your trip to another region.
