The Sikles trek in Annapurna region is an alternative trekking route with wilderness experience. Very few people visit this trekking route and enjoy the local culture.
Sikles is a small village which is home to people belonging to the Gurung Community. The village is located within the Kaski district and is area of Annapurna region. It is possible to include or mix the trek during your visit to the Annapurna region too.
Sikles Trek is easy and suitable for beginner climbers and also for experienced climbers. The top of the hike is in Forest Camp. It is located at 2200 meters in altitude. This means that you are less likely to suffer from altitude sickness.
You'll be walking through a stunning forest of oaks, rhododendrons (laliguras) and many others. In this trek you can also be able to see a magical array of mountains. This is a fantastic trip to the stunning Gurung village, which is situated on the top of a tiny hill. The Gurung village is situated in an area of utter isolation which is far away from city. This hike will take around one week from your hectic schedule. It will take you on a thrilling journey into the remote region that is part of the Kaski district. Take your bags and hop to this beautiful journey to Sikles village.
Sikles Trek lies in a high altitude, so the trek is possible at any time of the year; however, many trekkers prefer visiting Sikles Village during the spring and autumn seasons. Nepal is a place that experiences four seasons: Spring Monsoon and autumn, and winter.
We will start our journey by driving to Pokhara. On the way, we can see beautiful landscapes from the window seat. Pokhara is a wonderful village which has a lot to offer you. From beautiful landscapes to world peace pagoda it is filled with a lot of adventure and outdoor activities. We can go boating in lakes, witness waterfalls and explore cave around Pokhara.
After having breakfast in Pokhara, we will then leave for Baral. We will descend to Modi Khola as the ridge ends and from there we will walk for some time and make slight climb to reach Baral. On the way, we will pass many small villages.
We will leave Baral and head towards Chyamarang. We will cross a suspension bridge and we will make ascend in the trails. After walking for some time, we will enter green forest filled with various species of flora and fauna. We will also walk pass many small settlements, farms and scattered forests.
Today, we will be heading towards Sikles. Our trekking beings by crossing a suspension bridge over Modi Khola (stream) and gradually make a steep climb in the path. We will have to go up and downhill passing through pasture lands and villages and after walking for some time, we will arrive at Sikles which is the second largest Gurung village in Annapurna region.
After exploring the Gurung village, we will leave for Hoga. We will begin our trek by making ascending in the trails along with fabulous views of mountain throughout the journey. We will get to see some famous peaks such as Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, etc.
We will rest for the day in Hoga to reenergize ourselves and prepare for the journey ahead of us but we can walk around the village and interact with local peoples to know about their culture and tradition. We will get to see breathtaking view of Annapurna and Lamjung Himal.
After a rest day in Hoga, we will leave for Chipli. We will begin our journey by descending the trails back to Sikles. Heading out from the gorge of Modi Khola (stream) and make an uphill climb.
We will begin our journey from Chipli to Burijung Khola (stream). Today, we will be making steep up and downhill walks. Firstly, we will make a steep climb and then gradually descend in the path. After some time we will reach Seti Khola then the path passes through a dense forest which then leads to Burijung Khola.
Today, we will trek to Bharaburi. To begin our journey, we will make a slight ascend in the trails and go through the forest of rhododendron (laliguras). On the way, we will also have to cross a small wooden bridge. The view of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) from Bharaburi is absolutely mesmerizing.
After breakfast, we will leave for Chisopani. We will walk back to Seti Khola and drom there we will cross suspension bridge over Burijung Khola and continue our walk along the banks until we reach our destination Chisopani.
On our return journey, we will again trek back to Pokhara. The path is very easy and there is no up and downhill walks and rest in Pokhara for the day.
After a night in Pokhara, we will be flying back to Kathmandu the capital city of Nepal.
