We have created the Australian Base Camp Trek for those looking for a sweet and short hike in Nepal. Australian Base Camp Trek is one of the easiest treks in Nepal within the Annapurna Region.
It can be completed with your family, friends or even with children as young as parents. Australian Base Camp Trek can be completed in just the span of two days after leaving Pokhara in just a few days of trekking.
The trek offers rewarding panoramas that include Annapurna, Machhapuchre (Fishtail), Dhaulagri Himalayan ranges that are dotted with charming settlements and green hills.
The name that was originally used for Australian Camp was "Thulo Kharka" which means huge area of pastures in Nepali. This was once an annual herding spot for buffalo and cow herders from villages that were nearby.
Australian Base Camp was not very well-known among hikers prior to a few years ago. Its title Australian Base Camp came into existence when the inhabitants of Austria began to camp at this site.
The Austrian campers were enthralled by the area and began to visit more often and people began using it as an Austrian camp. Later, they named Australian Base Camp.
Australian Base Camp trek provides you with an enjoyable and simple trek within the Annapurna region. On this trek, you'll enjoy the diverse Gurung culture and warm welcome from the Gurung people.
In addition, you'll be walking through thick jungles and along hillside slopes. The trek will give the visitor a glimpse of the way trekking in Nepal is like. The trek could begin at Kathmandu and Pokhara.
If you're already located in Pokhara we are able to offer this service starting from Pokhara. If you're situated in Kathmandu then we'll fly you to Pokhara and start the trek.
The most famous Australian Base Camp trek begins in Pokhara. From Pokhara you'll drive to Kande. The drive takes about an hour via Sarangkotor Phedi. From Kande you'll trek up to Australian Base Camp which takes between 2 to 3 hours.
The hike to Australian base camp offers stunning panoramas of mountains, which include, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South Hiuchuli, Annapurna II and IV and Lamjung Himal and many more.
It is possible to experience the daily life of people who live in the countrysides of Nepal during this trek. The trek will also take you to the most well-known views points in Sarangkot.
Sarangkot is among the most famous sunrise view spots. At Austrilian Base camp, you'll trek to Sarangkot and from there, you'll drive to Pokhara.
Our officer will greet you upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport. Outside the terminal airport, the officer will display your nameplate. The private vehicle will then transport you to your hotel. You will be given a briefing at the hotel. Stay overnight at Kathmandu hotel
You will Drive to Pokhara. It takes approximately 6 hours to drive the 210km distance. Pokhara, also known as a city of lakes, has Phewa Lake and Begnas Lakes, Rupa Lakes, and many more. The panoramic views of Fishtail Peak (Machhapucharre 6,993m), Annapurna 8,091m), Dhaulagiri 8,167m), Manaslu 8,156m), Lamjung Himal (8,156m) and Dhaulagiri 8,091m are all available from this location. Upon reaching Pokhara check-in at Hotel. Relax and enjoy your free time. Relax and walk along the Pokhara lakeside. Stay overnight at a hotel in Pokhara.
Drive from Pokhara towards Phedi after breakfast. It takes approximately 45 minutes. You will start your trek at Phedi, climbing up stone staircases through the Rhododendron forest to reach lower Dhampus. You will then climb gently up through the small houses and terraced fields. Continue climbing through the rhododendron forests until you reach the ridge. Dhampus is the place to have lunch. After lunch, climb gently through the oak and rhododendron forests to reach Pothana. It takes approximately 1-hour to trek with stone staircases from Pothana to reach Australian Camp. Enjoy the sunset view of the Himalayas at night. Overnight at Mountain Lodge
After having breakfast at Australian Camp, you'll start your hike through the forest, slightly descend trail Naudanda (9 hills). Continue hiking to Sarangkot after stopping for lunch. Follow the easy path to reach the dense settlement of mixed ethnic groups. Sarangkot, a popular viewpoint close to Pokhara. This viewpoint offers stunning views of the Himalayan mountains and Pokhara valley. Evenings are great for seeing the lights of Pokhara valley. Overnight at Mountain Lodge
Enjoy the sunrise today, early in the morning Sarangkot, Mt. Dhaulagri to Mt. Annapurna, Machhapuchre, Nilgiri, Lamjung himal etc. You will then hike down towards Pokhara. Check in at the hotel upon arrival in Pokhara. In the afternoon, you will be free to explore Pokhara by yourself. Overnight in Pokhara
After having breakfast, you will be taken to Pokhara's Tourist Bus Terminal. You will then board the tourist bus. The same highway will take you through beautiful hills and villages, as well as small settlements in Nepal. Check in at your hotel upon arrival in Kathmandu. You are free to explore Thamel Market. Evening: Farewell dinner in a traditional Nepali restaurant, with a cultural show. Stay overnight in Kathmandu
Today is the end of your trip. For your departure from Nepal, our airport representative will drop off you at Kathmandu's international airport.
